Menagerie's programs offer audiences the opportunity to join in the creative process by participating in age - old musical & historical traditions. Audiences can expect to learn rounds, examine up close various musical instruments, or experience holiday traditions, depending on the program chosen. Each of Menagerie's educational programs includes a study guide.
Description of activities offered:
1. Tunes & Times of the Renaissance: Grade levels K - 12
Enjoy a lively visit with traveling minstrels from 16th Century England. Your students will chat with Elizabeth Anonymous & marvel at the music of Master Jonathan Tone. This program is a combination of music & history including the fashions, mannerisms, grammar, & much more.
2. Musical Instruments: Grade levels 5 - 12
For not more than 20 students Menagerie will bring in 3 different pieces of music. As a group your students decide upon which piece to perform. Separately each student will pick out an instrument. In no less than 2 hours, with Menagerie's help, your students as a group will perform the decided upon music.
3. A Victorian Christmas: Grade levels K - 12
Celebrate a Victorian Christmas with Jonathan & Elizabeth, 2 costumed characters from the time of Dickens, the Cratchett's, Tiny Tim, & Scrooge. Hear traditional Christmas songs played on the hammered dulcimer, guitar, harp, flute & vocals.
